Acting / Drama Summer Intensive

This summer, the Drama intensive will consist of creating a small repertory company who will together as an ensemble to develop, write, direct, design and act in a completely original production that the students will devise together.  The goal is to make this piece “site specific,” meaning the location is vital to how the story will be told.  Leading this group will be Wendy Waddell, an accomplished actor in San Diego who has a lengthy history working with ensemble driven theaters that create world and regional premieres of new work.  She was fortunate enough to work on the Car Plays with the La Jolla Playhouse and Moving Arts on three separate occasions, which has led the charge in San Diego for site specific theatre.  The piece created by the students will be performed on the last day of the intensive.

Wendy Waddell received her BFA in Theatre from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where she studied at the Lee Strasberg Institute. She has been seen on stages all over San Diego including the La Jolla Playhouse, MOXIE, the Welk, New Village Arts, Cygnet, ion, and Intrepid. Wendy can also be seen in commercials both nationally and regionally, as well as being an accomplished voiceover artist. As a Teaching Artist, Wendy has taught for Playwrights Project, La Jolla Playhouse, North Coast Rep, Coronado School of the Arts, and Arimaw Productions. Her favorite roles are wife to Brad and Mommy to her daughter Harper. For more about Wendy, check out WendyWaddellActor.com.
