Dillon Evans at Cirque du SoleilPosted by: nancym 3 years ago
We love hearing from our alumni! Today former CoSA student Dillon Evans, Technical Theatre 2011, called with an update. Dillon is graduating from CalArts on May 15th! After graduating from CoSA, Dillon spent a year at Cornish College of the Arts, and then transferred to CalArts where he completed his major in Theatrical Stage Management. This semester while at CalArts he interned with Viacom, parent company to many networks such as MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, and Spike as well as Paramount Pictures. Working for VH1 proved to be a very valuable experience with set visits and the ability to talk to managers all throughout the company. That job showed him that he missed the “live audience” aspect of theatre, so he applied for a job with Cirque du Soleil.
According to Dillon, “Working for Cirque du Soleil has been my dream since I was in 7th grade.” Cirque du Soleil receives hundreds of applications for their limited summer intern positions. “I’ve applied every summer, but this spring I got called for a Skype interview with 6 of their resident stage managers in Las Vegas,” said Dillon. Just 2 days after the interview, he was notified that he was selected to be the paid Stage Management intern for "Michael Jackson One" at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas for three months this upcoming summer. This intern program will be an incredible learning opportunity, putting him right into a production with thousands of audiences members and 10 shows per week.
“The CoSA program started it all. without it, I would have never known about the career of Stage Management. CoSA is a powerful program, and it set me on the road to fulfilling my dream.” Congratulations, Dillon. We could not be more proud of you!Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
