Kae Owens - Art and MedicinePosted by: nancym 2 years, 1 month ago
Kae Owens is currently a freshman in the Visual Arts Conservatory. Kae moved to Coronado in sixth grade and made it her goal to get accepted into CoSA for ninth grade. Her preparation for this included studying visual arts at Coronado Middle School, and hours of guidance from her middle school teacher.
Kae has found her CoSA friends to be like family. She is surprised at how much fun she is having creating her own art, even though it is a highly rigorous program. While Kae is open to different art techniques, she has found that she is currently most drawn to sharpie and gouache paint. Gouache is a mix of acrylic and water color. In addition to her academic courses, Kae studies ballet and contemporary dance at Coronado Academy of Dance, and takes piano lessons.
Kae recommends the Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA) to students interested in the fine arts. Her advice to other students is not to be scared. She says to stay balanced, stay motivated, not to get frustrated, to have fun, and most importantly to find your creative center and hold on to it. She describes this creative center as the energy that drives your art.
Although graduation from CHS is still a few years away, Kae is already thinking of her future and considering a career in the medical field. She would like to either practice medicine or become a medical illustrator. Obstetrics and pathology are both areas that interest her greatly. With Kae Owen’s determination, and ability to balance such a busy schedule, she will undoubtedly be able to find success in whatever she sets her mind to.Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
