Who says understudies never get the star role?!Posted by: nancym 3 years, 2 months ago
Opening Night of Big Fish was flawless, and most of the audience never realized that Sophia Johnson, the female lead playing the part of Sandra, was quite ill.
So for Saturday night's performance, her understudy, Aly Brady -- who was playing the role of Jenny, the lovesick lass left behind in Ashton -- switched roles from Jenny to Sandra. Danielle Bongionvanni, who was in the Ensemble, stepped up to portray the now vacant role of Jenny. Both actors performed their new roles with all the finesse that you would expect from someone who had rehearsed the role for weeks, not just 24 hours. Well done, Aly and Danielle!
Sophia is hoping to return to the stage for the final weekend performance of Big Fish this Friday and Saturday at 7 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. But such is the professionalism of the CoSA actors that, even when one falls ill, the show goes on!Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
